Time: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Biography: Derby has been vacationing in Virginia Beach since the 70’s, but it wasn’t until 2017 that she left her Richmond roots and became a permanent Virginia Beach resident. She has always been a fan of the vitality and diversity of the Hampton Roads community, and her 10+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector exposed her to the great work being done throughout our area, especially in Virginia Beach. Her most recent professional
experience includes an Executive role at Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia. Prior to that, Derby worked
with Ukrop’s Supermarkets, a family owned, values based grocery leader in Richmond. Her experience is based
in project management, communications and advocacy, and servant leadership, with a firm focus on strategic
visioning, solutions grounded business, and community impact. Derby also serves as a member of the board of
the LIFT Fitness Foundation and is an active member of 757 Angels.
Having worked in the nonprofit sector for the past decade, Derby understands the need for innovative and
engaged programs to provide holistic community solutions for greater influence and sustainability. Derby views
the mission of the Virginia Beach SPCA as critical to the welfare of all animals. The focus on providing quality
care for any animal that crosses the threshold of the VBSPCA helps to ensure that all animals have an
opportunity to find healthy, loving homes which in turn strengthens the animal-human bond that is so critical to
the wellbeing of our community. Derby is honored to be a part of Virginia Beach SPCA and looks forward to
contributing her vision, advocacy, passion, and talents to the mission and to those that need our voice.
