Forty young professionals came together for tHRive’s inaugural IMPACT Talk themed “Your Personal Brand” on August 10th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Slover Library.
Industry experts Paul Ariola of Dale Carnegie Training of Eastern Virginia, Toiya Sosa of GEICO and David Arrington of Arrington Coaching all led inspiring presentations followed by a panel discussion and questions and answers from the audience. Chris Shelton, owner of Cure Coffee Shop and member of the events committee, served as the moderator.
Ariola focused his talk on making a lasting impression and the do’s and don’ts of networking. He had the audience up on their feet participating in an important “Pause, Part Punch” exercise and laughing throughout most of the talk.
Sosa taught the group to be their authentic self in everything that they do and how success would follow. She talked about the importance of ensuring your actions align with your values. “You will realize your true purpose when you gain the ability to manifest your authentic self into actions that will make a real difference in the lives of others,” she stated.
Finally, David Arrington led a hilarious, yet truthful and inspiring talk on “Reclaiming Your Mojo.” He shared the five steps to get your mojo back. Part of his presentation covered how to listen to constructive feedback and “let it shake who you are”. He concluded, “If you don’t know what you are saying and selling how could anyone else?”
The event culminated with an engaging question and answer panel discussion and one-on-one networking with the attendees.
tHRive would like to extend a huge thank you to the Slover Library for hosting the event.
