tHRive First-Anniversary

More than 150 young professionals registered for a great evening at O’Connor Brewing Company in Norfolk on Thursday, July 14 to celebrate tHRive’s first year anniversary.
tHRive members and attendees enjoyed delicious catered food and beer, while weighing their chances with the many raffled prizes donated by local businesses and entertainment venues.
In the past year, tHRive has grown to more than 1,300 members, hosted over 40 events for young professionals and made a significant impact on the decision makers across the region.
Bryan K. Stephens, President & CEO of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, was in attendance. Stephens spoke about tHRive’s great success and vision that has brought so many young professionals in the area together and how he believes that the leaders and members of tHRive have the opportunity to shape and influence public policy for future generations.
Julia Rust, Chair of tHRive, preceded Stephens with words of praise and accolade for the first year completed. She was honored to have been involved in the formation of the organization and was ecstatic when speaking about its vision and future. Rust believes that this coming year tHRive will continue to have similar impacts in the Hampton Roads region.
tHRive thanks all its members who have made its first year extraordinary, all of its sponsors, and for the members of the board that have maintained a vision for its growth and impact.

tHRive Celebrates its First Anniversary

tHRive, the young professional program of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, will celebrate its first anniversary on July 14th at O’Connor Brewing Company from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
“In one year, tHRive has grown to nearly 1,300 members, hosted over 40 events for young professionals and made a significant impact on the decision makers across the region,” said Julia Rust, Chair of tHRive.
tHRive had many accomplishments during its first year that catered to its goals of growth and impact to include:

  • Rust serving as a panelist representing millennials for 13News Now’s live town hall discussion on “Building a 21st Century Economy” in March with top state and local leaders;
  • tHRive being the first in the region to officially welcome Fortune 500 company ADP to Norfolk with a large social event in April connecting more than 100 young professionals with ADP’s regional management and talent recruitment teams;
  • Polling its members to find that 92.5% were in favor of the expansion of light rail to Virginia Beach and presenting these findings to the Virginia Beach City Council in April; and
  • Partnering with young professionals organizations, CBDX and The Downtown100 to co-host “Better Transit: The Future is Riding on It” as a part of Hampton Roads Transit’s Transformational Transit Summit in June.

tHRive is one of the fastest growing young professional organizations and amongst the largest in the nation,” said Anne Baumler, tHRive’s Chamber Liaison. “We look forward to celebrating an unbelievable first year of growth, impact, and engagement with those that made it possible – our members.”
The anniversary celebration is open to all young professionals between the ages of 21-39. The ticket price of $10 includes the first beverage and appetizers. There will be many great raffle prizes donated from businesses across Hampton Roads. To learn more about the event visit www.YPtHRive.org/events.
